Golden Eagles Soar into a Tie for Second in Round Two of the Argent Financial Classic

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Golden Eagles secure a top two finish on the second day of action boasting a 10-under par through two rounds of play at the Argent Financial Classic.
Matthew Javier is the powerhouse of day with a birdie and an eagle in the front nine posting a three-under par 33. Through the back nine, Matthew collects two more birdies to cap off his day at five-under par 67 which leads him to be ranked in a three-way tie for first place with a seven-under-par on the event.
Coming off a solid two-under par 70 day one, Jake Moffitt strikes again by leading the event, in a tie for first, with 11 birdies. He doubled up on the two-under par 70 by collecting two birdies in the front nine and securing three more in the back nine.
Playing an even par 36 through nine Benjamin Fernandez secures a two-under par 70 with two birdies coming from the last four holes. Will Burnham plays a clean one-over par 73 helping to propel the Golden Eagles into a tie for second, a four-place improvement from yesterday's tie in sixth place.
Southern Miss is tied for second with Rice University at ten-under par trailing South Alabama by five. With the explosive eight-under par day, the Golden Eagles lead the event, in a tie for first, with two eagles next to the University of Houston.
