Volleyball Opens Home Stint Against Mercer

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss volleyball (4-2, 0-0 SBC) opens its seven-match home stretch Friday afternoon against Mercer at 4 p.m. in the Wellness Center.
The Golden Eagles enter the weekend following a 2-1 showing at the Molly Howard-Gerwig Memorial Tournament, where they earned wins over Bethune-Cookman and Houston Christian. Southern Miss hit a combined .292 across the three matches, totaling 147 kills.
Two-time all-tournament selection Sadie McAda leads the Golden Eagles with 83 kills this season. Setter Morgen Durgens leads the offense with 180 assists, while returning libero Sunni Sheppard leads the team with 95 digs and nine service aces. Both Durgens and Sheppard have received all-tournament honors during the 2025 preseason.
The Bears (1-7, 0-0 SoCon) enter the weekend following a three-set loss to Troy, falling 25-16, 25-19, 25-22. They are led by head coach Steve Benson, in his first season at Mercer after two years at Presbyterian.
