
Men’s Golf Finishes Ninth at Old Waverly Collegiate

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss men's golf placed ninth Tuesday in the 54-hole Old Waverly Collegiate after shooting a 308 in the final round at West Point, Miss.
Being played at the par 72, 7,008-yard Old Waverly Golf Club, junior Will Burnham (Jackson, Miss.) led the way over the final 18 holes with a 74 to place tied for 26th with a 220-stroke total. Sophomore Benjamin Fernandez (Asuncion, Paraguay) added an 81 to hold a 33rd-place tie with a 223.
Sophomore Supakorn Amornchaichan (Pattaya City, Thailand) registered a 79 for a 227 and tied for 45th, while senior Ryan Dupuy (Baton Rouge, La.) compiled a 77 over his final circuit for a 228 and a 52nd-place tie. Freshman Matthew Javier (Toronto, Ontario) tied for 58th after completing his tournament with a 229-stroke total that included a final-round 78.
Freshman Filip Sakota (Milan, Italy), playing as an individual, shot a final round of 83 to place tied for 68th with a 234.
Ole Miss won the team portion of the event with a 829, followed by Alabama (858), Mississippi State and Troy (859), with Memphis (868) rounding out the top five finishers. Southern Miss finished the event with an 889.
Southern Miss next travels to Annandale Country Club in Madison, Miss., for the 2025 Sun Belt Conference championship set for April 21-24.
