
Men's Tennis Closes Regular Season in 3-4 Loss at James Madison

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Southern Miss men's tennis wrapped up its regular season Sunday morning with a tightly contested 4-3 road loss to James Madison at the Hillside Courts.
The Golden Eagles (record not listed) fought back after dropping the doubles point and nearly completed the comeback with three wins in singles play, but the Dukes held on in a dramatic finish to secure the Sun Belt Conference win.
JMU claimed the doubles point with wins on lines two and three. Ritabrata Sarkar and Ricards Spaks dropped a 6-3 match on line two, and the pairing of Olle Noltorp and Pasawee Reansuwong fell 6-2 at line three. The match on line one, featuring Niklas Jensen and Saheb Sodhi, was left unfinished and tied at 4-4.
Southern Miss showed resilience in singles, taking three of the six matchups. Olle Noltorp earned a straight-set win on line one, defeating Aurelien Schmitt 7-5, 6-1. Sodhi followed with a strong performance on line two, besting Esteve Agusti 7-5, 6-1. Jensen delivered the final point for the Golden Eagles on line five, edging out Edson Sanchez in a second-set tiebreaker 6-2, 7-6 (7-3).
The Dukes sealed the match with victories on lines three, four, and six. Rasmus Becker fell 6-3, 6-1 to Zach Fleishman, while Reansuwong was topped 6-2, 6-4 by Francisco Sinopoli. Sarkar pushed Harrison Lee to the brink but dropped a tight 7-6 (7-3), 7-5 decision to close out the season for Southern Miss.
