Women's Tennis Prepares to Face Lamar Sunday

HATTIESBURG, Miss.-The Southern Miss women's team (3-2, 0-0 Sun Belt) continues its three-game road stretch with a contest at Lamar (2-6, 0-0 Southland) in Beaumont, Texas Sunday at 10 a.m.

The Golden Eagles look to rebound from a 4-1 setback against Southeastern Louisiana on Friday in Hammond, La. Sakura Sudo continued her strong start to the season, securing Southern Miss' lone singles victory with a 6-4, 6-0 win while also teaming up with Miranda Xu for a commanding 6-0 doubles victory.

Although Southern Miss saw its five-match doubles win streak snapped against the Lions, the team has been very competitive in doubles play this season and looks to reclaim that edge against the Cardinals.

Lamar has suffered five consecutive losses, most recently a 4-0 result at UTEP last Sunday.

The Cardinals and the Golden Eagles met last season in Hattiesburg, with Lamar taking the match 4-0 on Feb. 25, 2024.
