Matthew Adams Wins Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week Award

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss senior right-hander Matthew Adams (Pearland, Texas) collected the initial Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week award Tuesday in a release by the league office after winning his 2025 debut over the weekend.
Adams, who returned from injury after missing the entire 2024 campaign, threw six scoreless innings on three hits and a walk with nine strikeouts to earn a victory over Lafayette last Saturday afternoon. It was the most punchouts for Adams since fanning nine at ULM on May 14, 2023.
Not one of the four Leopard hitters that reached base got past second. He struck out a least one batter in five innings of his six innings and, after allowing a leadoff double in the sixth, fanned the side.
The award for Adams was the second of his career.
Southern Miss returns to action tonight when they play host to Mississippi State in a 6 p.m. contest.
