HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss women's basketball looks to start the Missy Bilderback era 3-0 in tomorrow's meeting against Blue Mountain Christian at Reed Green Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. with broadcasts on ESPN+ and on the Southern Miss Sports Network.
Faculty and staff at The University of Southern Mississippi are invited to Monday night's game as part of Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night at Reed Green Coliseum. All faculty and staff at Southern Miss can purchase discounted tickets for $5.
Southern Miss (2-0) looks to move to 3-0 on the year for the first time since 2023 and for the third time in the last 10 years. Blue Mountain Christian (4-1) will be playing an exhibition in Monday's game, which marks the fifth all-time meeting between the Lady Eagles and Lady Toppers.
Head Coach Missy Bilderback is the first head coach in school history to start their tenure 2-0 after Southern Miss' 92-80 win over William Carey last time out. Five Lady Eagles finished with double-figures, led by Meloney Thames' (Philadelphia, Miss.) 18 points on the day.
About the Lady Toppers
Blue Mountain Christian enters the game with a three-game win streak after dropping their second game of the season at Freed-Hardeman. BMCU boasts a trio of double-figure scorers, led by Rebecca Walter's 15.0 points per game and closely followed by Madde Kirk (11.8) and Kathryn Echols (10.8). The Lady Toppers are averaging 73.4 points and 40.8 rebounds per game through five games on the year.
As a team, they have hit 37 three pointers (7.4 per game) and hold a .422 field goal percentage. Head coach Tracy Rice is in her sixth season at her alma mater and shocked the Southern States Athletic Conference by winning the league tournament last year as the eight-seed.
The Blue Mountain Christian Series
Southern Miss leads the overall series 4-0 and now meets the Lady Toppers for the fifth time since the series' beginning in 2017.
