Volleyball Opens Weekend with Texas State Series

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss volleyball hosts Texas State on Friday, Oct. 31st at 6 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 1st at noon in the Wellness Center. Both matches will be available on ESPN+ to view. Friday's match is Volleyween, in which fans are encouraged to wear their best Halloween costumes, while Saturday's match is Youth Sports Day.
The Golden Eagles (14-7, 6-4 SBC) prepare to host Texas State after splitting the weekend with Old Dominion. Sadie McAda led the Golden Eagles with 10 kills on 28 attempts, while Brynn Botkin and Emily Davis each tallied nine of their own. Gaby Zovko's 17 assists led the Golden Eagles, while Morgen Durgens also notched 12.
Nationally, Southern Miss ranks ninth in the nation and leads the Sun Belt with 17.21 digs per set. Botkin ranks 11th in the nation this week in aces per set with 0.55 and is tied for 21st with 39 total aces this season. As a team, the Golden Eagles sit 24th with 1.90 aces per set. In the Sun Belt, the team continues to lead the conference in total aces with 135 and aces per set with 1.90.
The Bobcats (10-11, 5-5 SBC) head into conference play after two 3-0 sweeps against ULM in San Marcos. Southern Miss currently sits third in the West Division, while Texas State sits fourth. They are led by head coach Sean Huiet, who is in his fifth season with the Bobcats.
