
Volleyball Heads North to Face Arkansas State

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss volleyball heads north to compete in their first Sun Belt road matchup against Arkansas State Friday and Saturday in Jonesboro.
The Golden Eagles (10-3, 2-0 SBC) head into the weekend with a five-match win streak after earning a pair of sweeps against ULM in Hattiesburg, being the most consecutive wins since the program's six-win streak in 2017.
Following the final match against ULM, Brynn Botkin led the team with 13 kills, while Sadie McAda finished with 12 kills and nine digs. Gaby Zovko paced the offense with 37 assists to go with three blocks, tying with Lillie Johnson for the team lead in blocks. Sunni Sheppard anchored the back row with a team-high 14 digs and two service aces, while Kaylee Lowther also contributed two aces.
Nationally, Sheppard ranks 55th in digs per set at 4.33, while Botkin sits 41st for aces per set with .50. The team ranks 21st in digs per set with 16.48, 17th in aces per set 2.07 and 31st in kills per set with 13.88.
The Red Wolves (8-5, 1-1 SBC) heads into conference play after a 1-1 split at Georgia State. Southern Miss currently sits first in the west, while Arkansas State ranks third.
