Men’s Golf Set to Close Out the Fall Schedule at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -– The Southern Miss men's golf team are set to compete and co-host the 3rd Annual Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational with a flury of top programs in the country participating in a 14-team field. The event kicks off at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday with the Golden Eagles set to tee off starting with Walker Wise at 11:10 in a sequential start.
The event featuring 14 teams include programs such as Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, South Carolina, Arkansas, Wisconsin, Iowa, UNLV, Illinois, Chattanooga, followed by the three host teams. The tournament takes place on three separate days with 18 holes played every day. Tee times start at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday with an earlier 8:00 a.m. tee time to close out the event.
Southern Miss is bringing six with Jake Moffitt, Matthew Javier, Benjamin Fernandez, Will Burnham and Walker Wise for the team scoring with Supakorn Amornchaichan signed up in the individual category. The team is coming off a trip to Little Rock, Ark. with a top six finish out of 16 teams where Javier fired the lowest round on the season with an 8-under 64, two shy from the competitive course record set at 10-under.
The course is in Saucier, Miss. at the Fallen Oak Golf Club. The layout is a par-72 totaling 7,487 yards, known for its demanding greens and oak lined fairways. The course is home to the PGA Tour Champions' Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic with the recognition of being one of the best courses in the state.
