Men’s Tennis Falls Short to FGCU

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Southern Miss men's tennis team (0-2) fell short in a match against Florida Gulf Coast University on Saturday afternoon 1-6. Olle Noltorp earned a win for the Golden Eagles at Line 3 singles, winning in a 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (2) match.

Niklas Jensen put up a strong effort at Line 2 singles but fell to FGCU's Jonathan Baron 7-6 (3), 6-2. Saheb Sodhi, Ritabrata Sarkar, Rasmus Becker, and Pasawee Reansuloong also came up short in their matches.

In doubles play, the Golden Eagles' Line 1 team of Sodhi and Sarkar narrowly lost to FGCU's CJ Smith and Hugo Magnusson, 7-5. The Line 2 doubles match featuring Niklas Jensen and Maxim Vulic was left unfinished at 5-5, while the Line 3 duo of Rasmus Becker and Noltorp fell 6-1 to FGCU's Harry Michalowski and Pablo Paternostro.

Southern Miss will return home to host UAB on January 24th.
