What's New at The Rock for the 2024 Football Season
9/5/2024 9:29:00 AM | Football, General
Here are new and exciting things that Golden Eagle fans can look forward to this fall as they enjoy their home game experience at Southern Miss football games:
Recovery Zones
The addition of misting stations to assist in keeping fans cool on both sides of the stadium. The misting stations will be in the lower concourses at Section D on the West Side and Section M on the East Side.
Alcohol
The new officially licensed beer of Southern Miss will be available courtesy of Southern Prohibition Brewery (full press release ). Southern Skies will be available throughout the concourses and for pre-purchase for all suite holders. Furthermore, it will be sold at select retail locations throughout Hattiesburg.
A selection of frozen daiquiri flavors will be available in the lower South Endzone seating area and Touchdown Terrace Club Level.
Furthermore, all game day beer options will be available at each beer location in the lower concourse and select locations of the upper concourses, offering increased access to Golden Eagle fans and estimated shorter wait times. An additional walk-thru brew will be added to the lower east concourse as well.
Concessions
Fans will now have the opportunity to enjoy Marco's BBQ available on the lower east concourse, and Dream K's tacos on the lower west. Additionally, walking tacos will be added to both chicken tender stands on the east and west upper concourses.
Students
Students who are members of the Student Eagle Club will now have priority entry upon gates opening via Gate 7. In addition, there will be a 10 percent student discount and the ability to use Dining Dollars at the concession stand located near the student entrance at Gate 7.
Parking/Tailgating
To provide a seamless game day experience the Football game day parking map and passes have been updated to align with the signs at the entrance of each lot. As seen in the updated map (click here) we have transitioned from numbered lots to the university-identified names.
Rest assured that your parking location has not changed for the upcoming football season (unless requested). If you have any questions regarding parking or your season tickets, please reach out to us at 601-266-5418 or at ticket.office@usm.edu
In addition, please see the university tailgate policy located HERE.
Golf Carts
All golf carts operating on campus must adhere to all state and local traffic and parking laws. Fans will be unable to park golf carts near the gate entrances of M.M. Roberts Stadium. However,
Southern Miss Athletics will be providing complimentary parking for golf carts located on Felder Place (see here). All golf carts must park according to spaces indicated. This will be first, come first serve.
Not only are there changes in the grandstands, but also on the field for the upcoming home schedule. Those changes include:
Team run out
Your Golden Eagle football team will be leaving the locker room a little earlier this year, so they feel the passion of the Southern miss faithful. Furthermore, changes to pyrotechnics and cyro will offer a grand welcome to the team and coaches.
Two-minute warning
For the first time in college football history there will be a two-minute warning at the end of each half. This allows for additional rest for the teams and gives fans to the ability to visit the concessions for a refreshment.
Coach-to-player communication
Beginning in the 2024 season teams will be allowed to identify one player via a green dot, who will have the ability to receive communication from the coaches off the field through their helmet. Coach-to-player communications will be cut off when the play clock reaches 15 seconds or at the snap, whichever comes first. When the play clock resets to 25/40, the communication will be turned back on.
In game video review
In the spirit of technology, for the first time players and coaches will have the ability to use tablets on the field and in the coaching booths to review video during games.
While this is not a complete list of the different things happening at The Rock this fall, it should help in planning of your trip to the Hub City this season.
