
Volleyball Leaves Monroe with Second Conference Win

MONROE, La. — Southern Miss volleyball earned their second 3-0 sweep over ULM on Saturday afternoon in Monroe.
Southern Miss came out swinging in the opening set. With kills from Aysu Dalogullari, the Golden Eagles took the lead early and went up 5-2. ULM tied the set three times, but Southern Miss pulled away to win the set 25–20. Dalogullari contributed aces to the set, while Sunni Sheppard made efficient digs to complement blocks from Torrey Tkach.
With eleven ties in set two, it held a more competitive atmosphere from the crown and both teams. ULM was fighting back, and the Warhawks led 17–16 in the last moments of play. However, Sadie McAda's consecutive kills gave Southern Miss the momentum and they went on to win the set 25–22.
Southern Miss hit the ground running to an early 11-2 lead in the third set. In the set, McAda and Madison Baldridge combined for six kills, and Tkach chipped in with four blocks. With two service aces added from Sunni Sheppard, Southern Miss won 25–18 to end the match and close the series.
The Golden Eagles improve to 6-8 (2-0 Sun Belt) while the Warhawks fall to 4-10 (0-2 Sun Belt).
Southern Miss returns home after a four-week travel schedule to play at home on October 3-4 against Arkansas State. Friday's game will be themed for Block Out Cancer/Pink Out to honor those who have been affected by breast cancer.
