
Volleyball Looks to Extend Win Streak in Week Two of Conference Play

HATTIESBURG, Miss.- After a four-week stint on the road, the Golden Eagles return to the Wellness Center to extend their undefeated conference streak this Thursday and Friday at 6 p.m. against Arkansas State in Hattiesburg.
Friday's game will be themed for Block Out Cancer/Pink Out to honor those who have been affected by Breast Cancer. Saturday's match will be Camper Night. Free admission will be granted to campers wearing their camp t-shirt.

The Golden Eagles started the first week of conference play strong, with two three-set sweeps at ULM. Averaging 2.17 blocks per set last week to contribute to her 13 total blocks, Torrey Tkach earned Sun Belt's Defensive Player of the Week. Her presence has also shown imperative for the Golden Eagles from the offensive side of the net, earning 13 kills.

Aysu Dalogullari also proves a force for the Golden Eagles, banking her sixth and seventh double-doubles of the season. She earned 26 kills and six service aces over the weekend.

Sunni Sheppard has earned 235 digs so far as the libero for Southern Miss. She also has 40 assists and nineteen service aces, four of which are from this past weekend.

Francesca Panunzio and Hayden Riddle hold down the Golden Eagle offense as the two setters for the 2024 season. Both combined have a total of 492 assists so far this season.

Looking forward, the Golden Eagles are facing the Red Wolves of Arkansas State, who are also 2-0 in the Sun Belt after two four-set match wins against Georgia State.

Southern Miss leads the Red Wolves with 15.6 digs per set compared to their 15.3. Southern Miss also leads with 2.2 blocks per set.
