HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss had one individual place second and another qualify for an event final Thursday evening at the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Monroe, La., before rain postponed six events until later this weekend.
Kaya Ludgood came in second in the men's hammer throw with a heave of 60.73 meters, while Emme Bates qualified for Saturday's 1500-meter final with a time of 4:39.80 in a limited schedule of events.
The track events had initially been moved up an hour in anticipation of the inclement weather, but the meet was still delayed twice before it was suspended for the remainder of the day.
The meet continues Friday. Fans can follow the action via ESPN+ as well as the meet scoring by clicking here.
