Southern Miss Qualifies for One Event and Breaks Two School Records in Women’s Outdoor Track

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss women's outdoor track and field squad saw one relay team qualify for the NCAA Championships and a pair relay teams collect school records, Saturday, in the fourth and final day of the NCAA East Regional at Lexington, Ky.
The 4x100 relay squad featuring Trinity Flagler, Jada McDougle, Savi'a Varner, Trinity Benson, posted a school-record 43.68 and posted the eighth-best qualifying mark to advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., next month.
Another tandem squad, the 4x400 relay squad of Trinity Benson, Jada McDougle, Addison McLaurin and Savi'a Varnell did not qualify for next month's championships but earned the 14th-best time at the meet and a school-record time of 3:32.06.
The women's 4x100 relay team was the only event that the Golden Eagles advanced to championship, after initially qualifying in 13 events.
