HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss men's golf team shot a 302 over their final round to finish 11th at the Sun Belt Conference Championships at Annandale Golf Club in Madison, Miss.
Being played at the par 72, 7,190-yard course, senior Robbie Latter (Mississauga, Ontario) led the way for the Golden Eagles with a final-round 73 to finish the 54-hole event with a two-over 218 to finish tied for 12.
Senior Thongpipat Rattanayanon (Bangkok, Thailand) added a final-round 78 to post a 224 total in tying for 33rd-place.
Senior Bennett Ruby (Waterloo, Ontario) and junior Ryan Dupuy (Baton Rouge, La.) each tied for 42nd-place with a 226, as the duo shot a third-round 74 and 78, respectively. Freshman Supakorn Amornchaichan (Pattaya City, Thailand) rounded out the Golden Eagle finishers with a 77 for a 231 total and 55th-place.
The Golden Eagles ended their team tournament with a plus 893 stroke total. Arkansas State, ULM, Marshall and Texas State finished among the top four teams and will advance to determine the team champion in match play Thursday.
The tournament was the final one for the three Golden Eagle seniors, who cemented their legacy during their times as Golden Eagles.
"I would like to thank Bennett, Pat, and Robbie for their leadership over their careers at Southern Miss," said Southern Miss golf coach Eddie Brescher. "These three guys are great people and will leave Southern Miss better than they found it. This class of seniors consists of all conference, academic all Americans, multiple collegiate championships as a team and individual, and a record book peppered with their names.
"It has been an honor to coach these fine young men. I hope the next crop of players fills their shoes and lives up to the standards they set with this program."
