
Track and Field Travels to Baton Rouge for LSU Alumni Gold Meet

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss Track and Field team continues its outdoor season when they travel to the LSU Alumni Gold Meet, Saturday, at Bernie Moore Stadium in Baton Rouge, La.
The event starts at 10 a.m. with the women's hammer throw for field competitions, while the track gets underway at 12:30 with the women's 4x100 relay.
This will be the fifth event for the track and field program, who has captured 36 first-place showings this spring, The first-place showings include multiple wins on the men's side including the hammer throw, 1500 meters, 200 meters and high jump. The women's side includes the high jump, 4x100 relay squad, 100 meters, 200 meters, 800 meters, high jump and triple jump earning multiple first-place triumphs this spring.
The women's 4x400 relay team established a school record in their last meet at the Crimson Tide Invitational, featuring Trinity Benson, Jada McDougle, Addison McLaurin and Savi'a Varnell with a time of 3:35.33.
The Golden Eagles continue to look to post better times and marks as they have one more regularly scheduled meet at home next weekend, before heading to the Sun Belt Conference championships, May 9-11, in Monroe, La.
