Women's Golf Sets Sights on Sun Belt Championships in Alabama

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss women's golf is set to tee off at the Sun Belt Championships on Monday morning at Lakewood Golf Club in Point Clear, Ala. The four-day event features stroke play over the first three rounds and then will switch to match play for Thursday's semifinal and final rounds.
The Golden Eagles' lineup includes Momoka Ando, Jacee Fields, Elena Melich, Ragini Navet and Merche Corbacho. Taylor Trible has been tabbed as an alternate for Southern Miss. Ando's 72.8 strokes per round average leads the Golden Eagles by nearly two strokes as Melich is averaging 74.7 strokes per round.
Southern Miss is coming off a fifth-place finish at the Brickyard Collegiate as their final tune-up prior to taking on the 6,106-yard course. The rest of the field includes James Madison, Old Dominion, ULM, Georgia Southern, Texas State, Georgia State, Arkansas State, South Alabama, Troy, Coastal Carolina and Marshall.
ULM heads to Point Clear as the reigning champions, while four other teams rank inside the top-100 of the Scoreboard National Collegiate Golf Rankings. Georgia Southern leads the grouping at No. 54 nationally.
Monday's round starts at 8 a.m. CST with the Golden Eagles going off hole 10. They will be paired with Troy and Georgia State. Click HERE for live scoring.
