The Golden Eagles are returning from a road series against Coastal Carolina, the first road trip to Conway, S.C., in program history.
The Chanticleers won the series with two wins on Friday and Sunday, but the Golden Eagles held onto an early lead for an 11-9 victory on Saturday.
An eight-run third inning backed Southern Miss' victory as the team's bats erupted for a season-high 14 hits, the most since April 23, 2022, against UTSA (20 hits). The game also marked the tenth time this season that the Golden Eagles have recorded ten or more hits.
Designated player Jana Lee led the team with three hits, tying a career-high along with three RBI, as Ryanna Valdivia also set a new career mark with three hits. For the second consecutive game, Hannah Borden also registered two hits and Kinsley Gordon recorded her third multi-hit game of the season with two hits.
Before traveling to Coastal Carolina, Southern Miss picked up a home win in a midweek contest against Nicholls last Wednesday. Despite trailing throughout the contest, the Golden Eagles made a comeback with five runs in the sixth inning off of four consecutive base hits to decide the contest 5-3.
Lee earned two wins in both of Southern Miss' victories last week, improving her season record to 6-5, the most wins for the Golden Eagles.
