Davis Named Sun Belt Player of the Week

NEW ORLEANS – Domonique Davis, a senior guard for the Lady Eagles, was named the Sun Belt Conference's player of the week, the conference announced on Monday.
The DeRidder, La., native scored 45 points across two games for the Lady Eagles to secure the sixth overall seed for Southern Miss. Davis scored 22 at Texas State last Wednesday and ended the regular season with 23 points against Louisiana on Friday.
Her 22.5 points per game and 45 total points led the Sun Belt in both categories during the week. She finished the week 15-of-27 from the floor and 5-of-10 from behind the arc to post a 55.6 field goal percentage on the week. She also sank 10-of-12 free throws for an 83.3 percent clip.
Overall, this is the fifth time Davis has been named Sun Belt Player of the Week and the second time this season. Her 22 points on Wednesday moved her into the top 10 in Southern Miss history and her 23 at Louisiana passed head coach Joye Lee-McNelis, allowing her to stand alone at eighth place.
