
Volleyball to Close Regular Season at Marshall

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Southern Miss volleyball team will wrap up its regular season on the road this weekend with two conference matches against Marshall in Huntington, West Virginia. Both matches are set for 5 p.m. CT (6 p.m. ET).
Southern Miss enters the weekend following a pair of five-set losses to Troy, bringing its record to 9-17 (5-9 SBC), while Troy improved to 12-12 (7-7). Aysu Dalogullari and Sadie McAda led the Golden Eagles with 19 kills apiece in the series. On defense, Sunni Sheppard posted 20 digs, and Torrey Tkach recorded 10 blocks. Francesca Panunzio added 33 assists in the effort.
Nationally, Southern Miss ranks 16th with an average of 17.17 digs per set, with Sheppard holding 12th place at 5.11 digs per set. Tkach stands 32nd in the country in blocks per set and has 130 total blocks on the season.
Within the Sun Belt Conference, Southern Miss leads in block assists (378) and total digs (1,717) while ranking second in digs per set (17.17). Tkach tops the conference with 130 total blocks, and Sheppard remains the only Sun Belt player with three or more matches of 30+ digs, holding the season's second-highest single-match total with 36 digs against Arkansas State.
Marshall returns home after two losses to App State in Boone, North Carolina. Though the two teams are closely matched in offensive stats, Southern Miss leads in digs (1,717-1,591), digs per set (17.2-16.1), block assists (378-297), and blocks per set (2.2-2.1).
