Volleyball Opens Week Three of Conference at Louisiana

LAFAYETTE, La. – After a five-set reverse sweep last week, Southern Miss heads to Lafayette hoping to maintain momentum as it enters Week 3 of Sun Belt Conference play against Louisiana on Thursday and Friday night.

The Golden Eagles are coming off a five-set thriller that resulted in a 3-2 win against Arkansas State, splitting the weekend series. Several Southern Miss players reached career milestones in the matches.

Aysu Dalogullari and Izzy Kronenberg recorded career highs for kills in a match, both in their final seasons for the Golden Eagles. Setter Francesca Panunzio reached her 850th career assist, while also notching a career high in Friday's match. She is currently averaging 6.8 assists per set. Sunni Sheppard also set a career high with 36 digs.

Looking ahead, Southern Miss will face the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, who are 0-2 in Sun Belt play after two losses to Texas State.

Southern Miss leads Louisiana offensively in kills, kills per set, and hitting percentage. Torrey Tkach leads the Golden Eagles with a .213 hitting percentage, while Sadie McAda has 205 kills. Dalogullari ranks third in the Sun Belt for kills per set, averaging 3.59.
The Golden Eagles also lead in assists and assists per set. Panunzio ranks sixth in the Sun Belt with 6.85 assists per set.

Defensively, Southern Miss leads in blocks, with Tkach recording 77 total blocks, ranking fourth in the Sun Belt with 1.28 blocks per set. Sunni Sheppard leads the conference in total digs, with 303, and ranks second in digs per set with 5.05.
