Football Welcomes Arkansas State for Homecoming

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss football team returns to Carlisle-Faulkner Field at M.M. Roberts Stadium for homecoming this weekend as they welcome Arkansas State to The Rock.
Game time is set for 6 p.m., and can be viewed via ESPN+, as well as heard on an affiliate of the Southern Miss Sports Network and through SouthernMiss.com.
Southern Miss (1-5 overall, 0-2 Sun Belt) looks to snap a four-game losing streak when they meet the Red Wolves (3-3, 1-1), who dropped a 41-9 decision to Texas State last weekend.
The two schools meet for the 14th time with this being the third time as members of the Sun Belt Conference. The Golden Eagles hold a 10-3 series advantage, including a 6-1 winning mark in Hattiesburg. Southern Miss has won seven of the last eight games in the series, which originally dates back to 1960 with A-State capturing a 14-13 triumph in Jonesboro. The last four games between the two schools have been decided by seven points or less as have six of the 13 overall meetings. Southern Miss is 3-3 in those contests.
This is the second time in three seasons A-State has served as the Golden Eagles' homecoming opponent. Southern Miss won 20-19 in the 2022 homecoming affair. Overall, the Golden Eagles are 62-24 all-time in homecoming contests and have won 16 of its last 22 homecoming games. The theme for this year's event is "We Built This City on Black and Gold."
Sophomore Ethan Crawford is expected to get the nod at quarterback for the second-straight contest for the Golden Eagles. Crawford led the team in rushing with 70 yards last week to go along with 165 passing yards at ULM last Saturday.
Running back Dreke Clark continues to lead the team on the ground with 274 yards, while Kenyon Clay holds the most rushing touchdowns for the squad with four. Larry Simmons paces all receivers with 281 yards on 16 catches, while Ti Mims has the most receptions with 17 for 196 yards.
On defense, graduate transfer Tre' Pinkney ranks first in tackles with 45, following by Dylan Lawrence with 30.
