Southern Miss Volleyball Prepares for Home Matches Against South Alabama

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – After a 3-1 win over Louisiana last week, Southern Miss volleyball will host South Alabama for a pair of matches this week. The Golden Eagles take on the Jaguars at 7 p.m. Thursday and 6 p.m. Friday at the Wellness Center.
Thursday's match will feature a Halloween night promotion in collaboration with the Trick or Treat at The Pete event. Children in costumes will receive free admission. Friday's match will be a White Out game.
Southern Miss posted several career-high performances in last Thursday's five-set loss to Louisiana. Sadie McAda led the Golden Eagles with 24 kills and 30 digs. The Golden Eagles bounced back to defeat Louisiana in four sets on Friday, with Brynn Botkin leading the way with 16 kills and a .261 hitting percentage.
Southern Miss (8-10, 4-2 Sun Belt) is tied for second in the Sun Belt's West Division with South Alabama (8-8, 4-2) and Texas State.
McAda leads the Golden Eagles with 233 kills this season, while Francesca Panunzio has tallied 407 assists and 25 blocks. Sunni Sheppard, named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, leads the team with 367 digs and 22 aces. Torrey Tkach anchors the defense with 90 blocks.
Southern Miss leads the series in kills, assists, aces, digs, and blocks.
Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
