Football Takes to the Road to Face ULM

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss football team heads to ULM for a 4 p.m. Saturday contest in the team's first Sun Belt Conference road test of the season at Malone Stadium.
The game can be seen via ESPN+ as well as heard on an affiliate of the Southern Miss Sports Network with audio only available through SouthernMiss.com.
The Golden Eagles (1-4 overall, 0-1 Sun Belt) looks to snap a current three-game losing streak in the contest, after dropping a 23-13 decision at home to Louisiana last Saturday. The Warhawks (4-1, 2-0) enter the game having upended James Madison at home last weekend, 21-19. ULM enjoys its best start to a season since 1993.
This game marks the ninth between the two schools with the Golden Eagles holding a 6-2 advantage. The series dates to 1982 with the Golden Eagles having won the last two games in the series. This will be only the third visit by Southern Miss to Monroe for football as they hold a 2-0 record there over ULM.
The Golden Eagle offense continues to be led by Dreke Clark, who has rushed for 228 yards and a touchdown over the first five games, with Kenyon Clay next at 141 yards and three rushing scores. Larry Simmons leads the wide receiving corps with a team-high 235 yards on 14 catches, while Ti Mims holds a team-best 16 catches for 185 yards.
With five starts at quarterback, Tate Rodemaker's passing numbers include 580 yards and four touchdowns on 59-of-92 attempts, averaging 116.0 yards per contest.
On defense, graduate transfer Tre' Pinkney paces the squad with 37 tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss. Dylan Lawrence, who lead the team in stops a season ago, ranks second with 27 to go along with a team-high two interceptions.
Under fourth-year coach Will Hall, the Golden Eagles have enjoyed success playing in Louisiana, having won all four games they have played in the state of Louisiana, including a 20-10 victory in the final game of the 2022 season which got Southern Miss bowl eligible. They went on to defeat Rice 38-24 in the LendingTree Bowl later that year.
