HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss Indoor Track and Field squad returns to action this weekend when they travel to Houston for the Robert Platt Meet, hosted by the University of Houston, Friday and Saturday.

This will be the third indoor meet for the Golden Eagles this winter. Southern Miss has collected 12 first place finishes over the first two meets, including a pair of first-place showings from De'Aundre Ward in the Long Jump, which included a school-record mark of 7.82 meters last weekend at the Vanderbilt Invitational.

"This will be a big meet for us as it is the second to last meet for our kids before we head for the Sun Belt championships," said Jon Stuart. "We look forward to continuing to improve as we set our sights for next month in Birmingham for the league meet."

The event starts with the women's weight throw at 9:30 a.m., Friday.
