Cross Country Releases 2023 Schedule

HATTIESBURG, Miss.-- The Southern Miss Cross Country team announced its 2023 schedule Wednesday under the direction of third-year head coach Nick Gibson.
"I am anticipating the possibilities this year holds, I had unwavering confidence in our girls to achieve remarkable feats as we entered the Sun Belt last year," said Coach Gibson. "Without fail, week after week, they displayed incredible dedication on the course. Witnessing our program's first-ever conference win was truly extraordinary, and it fuels my certainty that our team is ready to build on that success and accomplish even more milestones."
The Golden Eagles will begin their season on Sep. 1 at the Mississippi College Opener in Clinton, Miss. Following a two-week break, the team will participate in the North Alabama Showcase in Huntsville, Ala., on Sep.15. On Sep.9; Southern Miss will travel to Fayetteville, Ark., for the 35th annual Chile Pepper Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas.
The regular season will conclude with the Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Oct.13 before the team heads to Foley, Ala., to compete in the Sun Belt Championships on Oct. 28, aiming to defend their title from last season, the first in the program's history.
Southern Miss will gear up for the NCAA DI South Regional Meet in Gainesville, Fla., on Nov. 10, hoping to improve their 8th-place finish from the previous season.
The squad includes notable returners such as Sarah Parnell and Isabela Ross, who earned both an all-conference first-team and all-regional team accolades last season. Additionally, they have welcomed promising newcomers Sylvia White, Brynn Kelso, and Kristina Stojanovic to their roster.
