Track and Field Travel to South Carolina for SBC Championships

HATTIESBURG, Miss.-- The Southern Miss track and field team are on the road to compete in the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Coastal Carolina in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The meet will occur May 11-13 at the Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.

"We are excited to head to Myrtle Beach. We're coming into the conference to meet with the team in its best shape all year. We have several regional qualifiers and are looking to add more this weekend," said head coach Jon Stuart.

Graduate Student Safiya John will open up competition for the Black and Gold on Thursday and Friday with the heptathlon at noon. Erin Phelps, Isabela Ross, and Carlin Beal will round out Thursday with the 10,000-meter run at 7:30 p.m. While Sarah Parnell will close out Friday with the 3000-meter steeplechase at 7:00 p.m.

Sunday will begin with the men's triple jump with Keshun Byrd and PJ Edwards at noon, followed by the women's high jump with Safiya John and Zharia Taylor at 12:30 p.m. Finals of the men's and women's1500-meter run, 100-meter hurdles, 400-meter run, 100-meter dash, 800-meter run, 400-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash, and 5,000-meter run will commence before the four by 400-meter relay races to conclude the 2023 SBC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
