Women's Golf in 14th After Opening Day of Trinity Forest Invitational

DALLAS, Texas – The Southern Miss women's golf team is in 14th after the first two rounds at the Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas, Texas.
The Golden Eagles started the tournament with a 301 and followed with a 302 in the afternoon round at Trinity Forest Golf Club. Elena Melich fired the two low rounds on the day as the sophomore went one-over par and two-over par. She sits in a tie for 36th.
Momoka Ando and Taylor Trible each carded a 151 today to end the Monday round in 56th. Both fired a three-over 75 and a four-over 76. Jacee Fields and Fernanda Gorostiaga are in 70th and 80th, respectively.
Playing as an individual, Alma Betoret started her day with a two-over 74 before firing a four-over 78. She is in a tie for 63rd heading into Tuesday's final round. Melich and Gorostiaga both had a team-high five birdies today.
SMU leads the 15-team field with a seven-stroke lead. The No. 31 Mustangs went 12-under par today with a 564 team score. The Golden Eagles are 27-over par with a 603. They lead UAB, who is in 15th, by 20 strokes.
