Southern Miss Closes Regular Season at Texas State on Friday Night

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Southern Miss (24-6, 13-4 SBC) men's basketball team arrived in San Marcos, Texas in the early morning hours on Thursday ahead of its game against Texas State (13-17, 6-11). The regular season finale at Strahan Arena on Friday night is scheduled for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.

Golden Eagle Nuggets
- Through 17 Sun Belt games, the Golden Eagles are off to their best conference start in program history since turning Division I. The 1949-50 NAIA team had 14 wins in conference play
- With Wednesday's 69-64 loss at Old Dominion, Southern Miss fell into a share of first place with Marshall
- Felipe Haase (18), DeAndre Pinckney (15) and Austin Crowley (11) all scored in double figures against the Monarchs
- Pinckney went for 15 points and 13 rebounds at Old Dominion to pick up his 7th double-double of the season
- A win at Texas State would guarantee at least a share of the regular season title, while a Marshall loss and Southern Miss win would give them the title outright
- Southern Miss reached 24 wins last Saturday to tie the 2011-12 team for the most wins in a regular season by any Golden Eagle team since turning Division I. The win also kept them in possession of first place in the Sun Belt
- Neftali Alvarez (19), Haase (13) and Pinckney (12) all finished in double figures against the Georgia Southern last Saturday
- Victor Hart and Harris both had 10 points in a loss at South Alabama last Thursday night

Scouting the Bobcats
- The Bobcats wrapped up their road slate with a 78-75 win over Coastal Carolina last Saturday. They then fell to South Alabama Wednesday night in San Marcos
- Mason Harrell led all players with 22 points as he made 6-of-11 shots and all nine of his free throw attempts. His last two charity stripe attempts put the Bobcats ahead by three with 1.8 seconds to play
- Brandon love went for a team-high 18 points against the Jaguars
- Harrell increased his career point total to 1,480 against South Alabama. He is now within 100 points of matching Brandon Bush for fifth place in program history
- Both Nighael Ceaser and Tyrel Morgan are putting up at least nine points a contest at 9.6 and 9.2, respectively.
- They are both first and second on the second in rebounding with Ceaser grabbing 6.4 rpg and Morgan right behind him at 6.3 rpg.
- Nate Martin enters scoring 7.6 ppg on a team-high 49.6% shooting.

- This is the 2nd meeting between Southern Miss and Texas State
- The first meeting came earlier this season when the Golden Eagles won 67-58 in Hattiesburg
