Golden Eagles Earn 13-8 Win Over Alcorn State

Despite the Lady Braves' efforts, they were unable to blemish the Golden Eagles' home record as they advanced 5-0 on the season. Southern Miss maintained their series lead now 23-1 over Alcorn State.Â
As the score was tied 8-8 in the fourth inning, the Golden Eagles took the lead for good, adding five more insurance runs to the board.Â
Pitcher Morgan Leinstock was able to slam the door on the Lady Braves with nine strikeouts to add 286 for her career.Â
On the offensive side, senior Hannah Borden recorded two hits, three RBIs, and 12 putouts, while sophomore Lorna Agren earned two runs, two hits, and one RBI.Â
The Black & Gold will face off with Tulsa at noon, followed by SIUE at 2:30 p.m. for day two of the Golden Eagle Invitational at the Southern Miss Softball Complex. Live stats will be available on our website.Â
