Southern Miss Softball Earns 17-0 Win Over Southern

HATTIESBURG, Miss.— The Southern Miss softball team (4-0, 0-0 Sun Belt) earns their fourth straight win combining a no-hitter with three 3-run homers over Southern University (0-5, 0-0 SWAC) for a 17-0 victory.
Natalie Poole becomes the first-ever first-year coach in program history to get off to a 4-0 start. The Golden Eagles added 10 hits in the run-rule victory.
In the bottom of the first, Lorna Agren homered to right center for the first time of her career to give USM a 3-0 lead.
Natalie Taylor homered to center field shortly after in the second inning for the second time in her career and pushed the lead to 9-0. The Brandon, Miss. native hit her first career home run last year against the Lady Jags a day earlier on Feb. 16.
Finally, Alexis Dittmer homered to left field in the bottom of the fourth to cap off the night. Notably, all ten hits each came from a different player.
Paige Kilgore picked up her second win of the season after striking out three batters and allowing one walk in four innings of work.
The Black & Gold look ahead for their annual Golden Eagle Invitational Feb. 17-19 at the Southern Miss Softball Complex.
