Frank Gore, Jr. Earns Second Team All-Sun Belt Conference; Four Gain Honorable Mention

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Sun Belt Conference announced its postseason football teams Thursday and Frank Gore, Jr., earned second team honors as both running back and all-purpose back in a release by the league office. Four other Golden Eagles, defensive lineman Quentin Bivens, linebacker Swayze Bozeman, wide receiver Jakarius Caston and defensive back Jay Stanley, earned honorable mention nods.
The nation's career active leading rusher with 4,022 yards finished the season with 1,131 yards rushing, which is the 13th best year in school history. He is one of only five Southern Miss running backs to rush for 1,000 or more yards in multiple seasons. Gore, Jr., added 27 catches for 221 yards.
He was the first Golden Eagle with double digit rushing scores (10) since 2017 and added three more receiving. He ranked tied for third in the league with TD totals and finished the year at 1,352 all-purpose yards, for an average of 112.7 yards per game, which ranked sixth in the league.
Gore, Jr., posted five 100-yard rushing games, including season-high 247 at App State and scored at least one touchdown in each of the final five games to finish the year.
As for Bivens, he registered 32 tackles, which included 2.5 tackles for loss and a half sack. His defensive totals also included three pass breakups, two quarterback hurries and a pair of fumble recoveries. Bozeman recorded 54 tackles in 10 games, with four tackles for loss and a half sack. He also added three pass breakups during the campaign.
Caston led the Golden Eagles in receiving yards with 621 on 33 catches with a team-best six touchdown catches. He also returned a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown during the season against Mississippi State. Stanley led the team in forcing turnovers with five – three interceptions and two fumble recoveries – to go along with 61 tackles in 11 games. He also added 1.5 tackles for loss and a team-high tying five pass breakups.
