HATTIESBURG, Miss.-Locked in a stalemate for the fourth seed in the Sun Belt West Division, Louisiana (16-12, 7-6 Sun Belt) regained a one-match advantage over Southern Miss (11-14, 6-7 Sun Belt) with a 3-0 victory (22-25), (20-25), (23-25) against the Golden Eagles Friday night.

Southern Miss looked to rebound in the following set, jumping to an early start with a pair of kills from Wesley. Again, Louisiana tied the game, starting a back-and-forth battle between the two teams. The Ragin' Cajuns gained the lead on a Southern Miss service error and extended its lead on a 5-1 run.Â
After three kills by Celeste Darling, Louisiana led by six points, its largest lead in the match. Despite a solo block from Reagan Leinen, the Ragin' Cajuns closed the set at 25-20.
Southern Miss promised to extend play by tying the third set late after trailing by four points. But as the previous two sets played out, Louisiana scored the next three of four points, ending the game at 25-23 after a final attack error from Southern Miss.
Cara Atkinson followed Wesley's total with eight kills on a .353 clip with four digs and two blocks. Junior Ari Barksdale added five kills and a pair of blocks. Freshman setter Franky Panunzio assisted on a team-high three blocks with 26 assists.
