Women's Golf Tied for First Following Day One of The Judson

HATTIESBURG, Miss. --Â On its home track, the Southern Miss women's golf team is tied for first at The Judson following the first 36 holes of play. The Golden Eagles were paced by Elena Melich and Merche Corbacho on a chilly day at Hattiesburg Country Club.Â
Taylor Trible delivered the low round of the day in Monday's opening round, firing a two-under 70 as temperatures plummeted to the low 50s. Melich added a one-under 71 to go with a one-over 73 in the second round. Corbacho enjoyed a pair of even-par 72s. She leads all Golden Eagles with eight birdies through two rounds.Â
Momoka Ando, Alma Betoret and Ragini Navet are part of a five-way tie for 12th. Ando used a one-over 73 and two-over 74 to work herself into contention, while Betoret went even-par and followed with a three-over 75. Navet, playing in her first home tournament, fired a one-over 73 and two-over 74. Fernanda Gorostiaga started her day with a four-over 76 and then responded with an even-par 72 to work herself into a tie for 17th. Taylor Trible is also in a tie for 17th after starting her day with a two-under 70 and then a six-over 78 to end the day. Jacee Fields is in a tie for 43rd after a two-over 74 and a nine-over 81.Â
Southern Miss leads the field with 33 birdies and got its lone eagle from Ando in the second round on hole nine. Melich, Betoret, Trible and Navet all added seven birdies on the day.Â
The third and final round will tee off at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning with a shotgun start. Follow live scoring HERE.
