Beach Volleyball Finishes First Fall Exhibition

KENNER, La. – Southern Miss beach volleyball finished the Coconut Beach Fall Exhibition at the Coconut Beach Sand Sports Complex. Southern Miss' pairing of Ola Chudzik and Sarah Murczek advanced to the Pink Division championship match before falling to LSU.
"Overall, we settled down as the weekend went on and got better every time we played," said head coach Shawn Taylor. "Our brightest spot this weekend was Ola and Sarah taking second overall. There were 44 teams in the field across three divisions, so for them to place second in the top division - and in Sarah's first competition - is a positive sign. At this phase of our season, that's all I can ask for as a coach.
In total, the Golden Eagles finished 3-15 on the first day, led by Chudzik/Murczek's 2-1 day, cluminating the the pair's apperance in the top division's championship game. After pool play, each pool's top half and bottom half formed a playoff.
Morgan Perry and Valeria Siakidou Papakyriakou finished 2-1 in the Pink Division playoffs, ending their day in the consolation bracket after falling to Chudzik and Murczek en route to the championship match.
In the Aqua Division, two Southern Miss pairings – Emmie Kozalka/Ashlyn Rough and Wiio Meinheit/Ella Rodriguez – qualified for the bottom eight playoffs with Meinheit and Rodriguez finishing the day 1-2.
Laurel Dennis and Carmen Sanchez Delgado finished 4-2 overall after a 3-0 performance in the Blue Division playoffs.
