Men's Tennis Heads to Auburn for ITA Southern Regional Championships

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss men's tennis team is set to participate in the ITA Southern Regional Championships at Auburn, Ala. The four-day event that starts on Thursday will be played at Auburn and include both doubles and singles play.
"I am excited for Dakotah [Bobo] getting an entry into the Main Draw," said head coach Zubin Engineer. "Our lineup in the Qualifying Draw is very good and I expect us to compete at a high level all weekend. We had a good tournament at home in doubles, so I would expect that play to carry over with the four doubles teams we have in the Main Draw."
Redshirt sophomore Dakotah Bobo highlights the field as the only Golden Eagle to earn entry into the Main Draw. The Lafayette, La. native will play Luke Petrovic on Tulane in the first round. The winner will advance to play eighth-seeded Stefan Latinovic. Senior Olimjon Nabiev is ranked No. 23 in the Qualifying Draw and will play the winner of Birtan Duran and Nicolas Simkin.
The rest of the Golden Eagle lineup will play in the opening round of the Main Draw on Thursday. The lineup includes Henry Lamchinniah, Pawin Jirapoomdaje, Saheb Sodhi, Shamirul Shahril, Pasawee Reansuwong, Rasmus Becker.
Southern Miss will also send four teams into the Doubles Main Draw. The Golden Eagle pairings are as follows: Pasawee Reansuwong/Olimjon Naviev, Dakotah Bobo/Shamirul Shahril, Pawin Jirapoomdaje/Rasmus Becker and Sahed Sodhi/Henry Lamchinniah.
