Last Time Out
Southern Miss (13-6, 6-2 Sun Belt) faltered in the fourth quarter against Marshall as the Thundering Herd utilized an 18-4 run to open the frame. The Lady Eagles fell 53-52 as Domonique Davis (DeRidder, La. // LSU) attempted to push Southern miss over the hump but came up just short.
The Arkansas State Series
Dormant for over 22 years, the Red Wolves (6-13, 1-7 Sun Belt) and Lady Eagles return to the court for the second time in as many weeks. Southern Miss took the first meeting to move to 3-2 all-time in the series.
The Lady Eagles are looking for their first win in Jonesboro since 1982 and the first under Coach McNelis.
Scouting Arkansas State
A-State is much improved since the last meeting, having broken through into the win column in Sun Belt play last week, besting South Alabama by a final of 63-47.
The Red Wolves followed up that performance with a one-point, overtime loss to Louisiana in Lafayette, proving the team is at a turning point of the year.
The game will be Arkansas State's first time back in Jonesboro since beginning their two-week road trip at Reed Green Coliseum two weeks ago.
Izzy Higginbottom and Lauryn Pendleton lead the Red Wolves' scoring efforts with 13.6 and 12.8 points per game. Higginbottom has dropped 15 or more in seven games and finished in double-figures in 13 of the Red Wolves' 19 contests.
Pendleton has notched five 15+ games and 12 in double-figures.
