Fourth Quarter Comeback Completes Marshall's Upset of Lady Eagles

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Southern Miss' fourth quarter collapse leads to a 53-52 loss to Marshall at the Cam Henderson Center. The Lady Eagles will be back on the road next week at Arkansas State.
Tale of the Tape
Southern Miss (13-6, 6-2 Sun Belt) led from the five minute mark in the first quarter through the completion of the third before Marshall scored 19 points to open the final frame.
Marshall snaps a five-game skid in conference play and moves to 10-9 overall and 3-5 in Sun Belt play.
Lauren Gross (Southaven, Miss. // North Florida) busted open the game in the second quarter with three long balls in four possessions to give Southern Miss a 28-21 lead to head to the locker room.
Marshall tied the game at the 8:32 mark in the fourth quarter and taking the lead for good at from a Roshala Scott free throw at 8:01.
Domonique Davis did all she could in the final ten minutes, scoring nine of the Lady Eagles 15 fourth quarter points. The DeRidder, La. native finished with 18 points and six rebounds.
Melyia Grayson had an even eight-point, eight-board performance to lead the Lady Eagles in rebounding.
Marshall tallied seven long balls on 31 attempts, three of which came in the fourth quarter run to take the lead. Roshala Scott led the Herd with 18 points on 7-of-20 shooting.
