Ando Ties Career Low to Lead Golden Eagles at USA Intercollegiate

MOBILE, Ala. – Southern Miss' Momoka Ando carded a career-low 68 as the Golden Eagles finished the day three-over par at the USA Intercollegiate in Mobile, Ala. Southern Miss is tied for seventh after its 291 team score.
Ando got off to a fast start after draining back-to-back birdies on five and six. The sophomore then dropped in four birdies on the back nine to finish four-under par, tying the lowest score of her young Southern Miss career. She is tied for third after the first round.
The other Golden Eagle under par after the opening round was Elena Melich. The one-time Conference USA Freshman of the Year fired a 71 to go along with five birdies. Melich's round has her tied for 17th going into day two on Sunday.
Alma Betoret finished three-over par in her Golden Eagle debut. Fellow freshman Fernanda Gorostiaga fired a 79 in her debut. Friend Chompitakdacha shot a five-over 77.
Playing as an individual, sophomore Jacee Fields carded a three-over par 75. Fields birdied the 14th hole to get to two-over before bogeying the 17th hole.
Southern Miss will tee off at 8 a.m. on Sunday morning with Gorostiaga being the first Golden Eagle off the first tee box.
