Southern Miss Volleyball Opens Season at Crimson Tide Invite

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Jenny Hazelwood era of Southern Miss volleyball officially begins tomorrow as the Golden Eagles up the season against UTSA at 10 a.m. CT from Foster Auditorium on the campus of the University of Alabama.
"We're excited to get the season rolling against some really good teams," Hazelwood said. "Our girls have worked hard all offseason to reach this point and I'm looking forward to seeing them put their training to the test on the court this weekend to accomplish big things."
Southern Miss Schedule
Friday – 10 a.m. CT – vs. UTSA
Friday – 3:30 p.m. CT – vs. McNeese
Saturday – 3 p.m. CT – at Alabama
Southern Miss Snippets
• Mia Wesley finished the season with the second-most kills of any hitter in Conference USA in 2021, with 428.
• Junior setter Kenzie Smith finished the 2021 season with 1,046 assists, the most of any setter in Conference USA. She becomes the first USM setter to eclipse 1,000 assists since Sarah Bell in 2018.
• The Golden Eagles begin their inaugural season in the Sun Belt Conference, officially becoming members on July 1, 2022. Former C-USA programs, Old Dominion and Marshall will join Southern Miss in the SBC, along with James Madison.
• Hazelwood joins each coach at the Crimson Tide Invite in making their debuts with their respective programs.
