Southern Miss Takes Aim at Conference USA Outdoor Championships

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss track and field team travels to the University of Texas at San Antonio for the 2022 Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships taking place May 12-15 at the Park West Athletics Complex.

"We put together a great outdoor season so far," head coach Jon Stuart said. "It's time for our team to piece everything together and finish strong at the conference championships. I think all of our athletes understand the moment and are looking forward to being at their best on a championship stage."

Kaya Ludgood opens the competition for the Black and Gold in the hammer throw on Friday at 1 p.m., while Carlin Beal, Lina May and Oliwia Wawrzyniak open things on the track with the 10K race at 9 p.m.

On Saturday, Fred Moudani and Joe Wager compete in the discus at 1 p.m., with Austin Bourne begins things on the track with the 1,500M prelim at 5:30.

The final day of competition starts with Moudani, who currently leads Conference USA, in the shot put at 1 p.m., with the men's 4x100 relay at 6 p.m. kicking things off on the track surface.

In total, 41 student-athlete will compete for the Golden Eagles, with 24 on the women's side and 17 for the men.

Southern Miss will look to build on a fifth-place finish on the women's side and seventh-place finish for the men's team at last year's C-USA Outdoor Championships.
