HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss track and field team is set for one final tune-up prior to competing at the Conference USA Outdoor Championships, as the team returns to Mississippi State for the second time this season, taking part in the Maroon and White Invite on Friday and Saturday.
"We're excited for the opportunity to return to a familiar track," said head coach Jon Stuart. "We competed well last time in Starkville. I'm looking for our kids to have progressed from that point in the season to where we are now, and compete well over the weekend."
Action gets underway Friday at 10 a.m. CT with Alexis Morris, Isabella Simonelli and Jordan Speer set to compete in the women's hammer throw. Friday's running events begin at 6 p.m. CT with the women's 200 meter dash, followed by the 1,500 meter invite race.
Jordan Speer opens competition for the Golden Eagles in the shot put on Saturday at 11 a.m. CT, while action on the track is slated to begin at 1 p.m. CT with the 4x100 relay.
In total, Southern Miss has 43 student-athletes in action over the course of the weekend. Live results for the Maroon and White Invite can be found here.
