Women's Golf in Fifth After First Round of C-USA Championships

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. --Â After a strong first round from the Golden Eagles on Monday morning in the Sunshine State, the Southern Miss women's golf team is in fifth at the Conference USA Championships at PGA National Resort.Â
Merche Corbacho continued her C-USA Championship dominance in the opening round, firing a three-over 75 this morning. Last season, Corbacho recorded an even-par 72 in the opening round. Momoka Ando carded a five-over 72 in her postseason debut and recorded eight pars over the final nine holes. Ando is tied for 17th.
Freshman Jacee Fields finished with a six-over 78 and had a pair of birdies. Elena Melich and Friend Chompitakdacha each recorded a nine-over 81. Chompitakdacha had one birdie on the day.Â
Tuesday's action will start at 7:50 a.m. with Chompitakdacha going off the first tee box with Jordyn Hodgson (FIU) and Ellie Roth (North Texas). Corbacho will be the final Golden Eagle off the tee box at 8:30 a.m.
