HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss track and field will be spread over 2,112 miles with student-athletes set to compete at both the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California and War Eagle Invitational in Auburn, Alabama over the weekend.
"As we reach the home stretch of the outdoor season, I'm excited to hopefully see our athletes step up and perform well over the course of the weekend," said head coach Jon Stuart. "Our kids will see great competition at both meets and I'm looking forward to seeing how we execute."
The Black and Gold travel Smilla Kolbe, Kate Mattox, Lina May, Sandra Szpott and Oliwia Wawryniak to compete at the Mt. SAC Relays, where May will open the competition for the Golden Eagles running the 10K race on Thursday night. Kolbe will take part in the 800m run on Friday afternoon, while Mattox and Szpott are both set to run the 1500m and Wawryniak closes the competition for Southern Miss in the 5K race on Friday night.
The rest of the Golden Eagles head to The Plains to take part in the War Eagle Invite hosted by Auburn University on Friday and Saturday. Southern Miss has 35 student-athletes set to take part in the meet against 27 other schools, including conference foe Middle Tennessee.
