Men’s Golf Competes at Mossy Oak Collegiate Monday

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Darkness caused the opening day of the Mossy Oak Collegiate to be suspended late in the second round with Southern Miss holding a tie for 16th in the 19-team field.
Lightning forced the start of the day to be delayed 30 minutes and when play was suspended at the par 72, 7,212-yard Mossy Oak Golf Club in West Point, Miss., the Golden Eagles had its individuals short between one to four holes in completing their second circuit of the day.
Play will resume at 8 a.m., Tuesday, with the completion of the second round, before starting the final round of the event.
Hometown product, Hunter Atkins, led the Golden Eagles during the opening and is sitting in a 20th-place tie. The Southern Miss senior shot a three-over 75 over his first round and was three-under with three holes left in the second round. Senior Brice Wilkinson (Madison, Miss.) also fired an opening round 75 and was one-under par with four holes left in his second round to hold a tie for 40th.
Sophomore Robbie Latter (Mississauga, Ontario) carded a 78 over his opening round and is one-under-par with one hole left to complete his first 36 holes and a tie for 56th. Freshman Ryan Dupuy (Baton Rouge, La.) added a 79 and was shooting five-over with two holes left to hold 95th place. One place behind Dupuy is Thongpipat Rattanayanon (Bangkok, Thailand), who posted an 80 and is five-over with four holes left in the second round.
The Golden Eagles, which shot an opening round 307, were tied with Florida State for 16th when darkness forced play to stop. Vanderbilt leads the team standings with a 16-under-par, while host Mississippi State was second at 12-under.
