Golden Eagles Head back to Louisiana for Tchefuncta Collegiate Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss women's golf team continues its spring slate Monday with the 54-hole Tchefuncta Collegiate Invitaional at Tchefuncta Country Club in Covington, La.Â
The 10-team event will start on Monday morning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Southern Miss will be paired with South Alabama and ULM for the first two rounds. The tournament will culminate with a single round on Tuesday.Â
The par-71 course totals 6,044 yards and features three par fives. The Southern Miss lineup includes Friend Chompitakdacha, Elena Melich, Merche Corbacho, Momoka Ando, and Jacee Fields. Sophomore Icie Cockerham will play as an individual.Â
The Golden Eagles are coming off a ninth-place finish at the Tulane Classic in New Orleans. The result marked the best finish to open the spring semester since they finished third at the Edwin Watts Kiawah Island Spring Classic in February of 2017. The Black and Gold fired a 928 over the three-day event to finish ahead of Conference USA foes UAB and Charlotte. Chompitakdacha paced Southern Miss with a top-25 finish. The trio of Corbacho, Ando, and Melich finished tied for 33rd. Â
Southern Miss will be joined by UAB, Little Rock, UIW, ULM, Murray State, South Alabama, Texas-Arlington, Toledo, and Tulane.
