Women's Golf in Ninth After Day Two of Tulane Classic

NEW ORLEANS, La. --Â After two days of the play at the Tulane Classic, the Southern Miss women's golf team sits in ninth at English Turn Golf & Country Club in New Orleans. The Golden Eagles fired a 308 to improve their team total by 12 strokes.Â
Friend Chompitakdacha remained at the top of the Southern Miss leaderboard in a tie for 23rd. The Chiangmai, Thailand native fired a six-over par 78, and had a pair of birdies on the front nine. Freshman Elena Melich recorded the low round of the day for the Black and Gold, carding a four-over 76. After picking up five birdies in Monday's round, Melich is tied for the third-most by a player in the tournament with eight. North Texas' Ellie Roth has 10 and sits tied for first on the overall leaderboard.Â
Freshmen Mercha Corbacho and Momoka Ando each fired a five-over 77 to sit tied for 34th and 45th, respectively. Sophomore Icie Cockerham had a four-stroke improvement, as she shot a 12-over 84. Freshman Jacee Fields, Southern Miss' lone individual player, went for a seven-over 79.Â
The Golden Eagles will return for the final round tomorrow morning. Tuesday's tee times have yet to be announced.Â
