Lady Eagles Head to California for Long Beach Classic

HATTIESBURG, Miss. --Â Lady Eagle basketball heads west to California for the Long Beach Classic in Long Beach, Calif. Southern Miss plays UC Irvine on Friday, Dec. 16, at 3 p.m. CT and Long Beach State on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 5:30 p.m. CT.
Last Time Out
Southern Miss (5-4, 0-0 Sun Belt) returns to action after falling to Alabama on Dec. 11 in Reed Green Coliseum by a 56-47 margin.
Defense was the name of the game at Reed Green but a 17-0 run from Alabama to overcome a Lady Eagle lead in the second quarter proved to be the deciding factor of the day.
The Long Beach Classic
Southern Miss has played just four games in the Golden State before this weekend's tourney, the last in 2002 at San Francisco.
The Black & Gold have never played UC Irvine or Long Beach State in their 48-year history.
Dartmouth also joins the group to complete the four-team field of the Long Beach Classic.
